Willows

The Willow classroom is a vibrant place filled with energy, curiosity, exploration, and discovery. For some children, the Willow year marks the beginning of their first school experience; for others, it is a continuation of the relationships, routines, and learning they began as Acorns. Children in the Willow program attend three, four, or five days per week, with schedules designed to support both developmental readiness and family needs.

Throughout the year, teachers develop engaging thematic units inspired by children’s interests, questions, and emerging ideas. Learning comes alive through social learning, play, and provocations; providing opportunities to investigate, create, and make connections. Early literacy and numeracy concepts are naturally woven into the curriculum through play, projects, and everyday classroom experiences.

Each child maintains a journal that captures their drawings, ideas, and growing ability to represent their thinking. Teachers carefully transcribe children’s words, honoring their voices and documenting the development of their language, creativity, and confidence. As children develop stronger friendships and a growing sense of themselves within a group, they practice sharing ideas, solving problems together, and navigating the joys and challenges of being part of a group.
