Covid- 19 Preparedness

At Spruce Street we are taking the utmost precautions to help stop the spread of Covid-19 while doing our best to keep our children, families, and staff safe.

Like most schools in Massachusetts, we closed our doors on March 12th and quickly pivoted to a mix of live Zoom meetings and remote learning for all of our students. Despite the inherent challenges of teaching and participating in preschool online, Sprucers rose to the occasion and did an excellent job of keeping the Spruce spirit alive.

During the months that we were closed, we also spent a great deal of time reimagining our space and our practices. These are some of the steps we have taken:

  • Reduced enrollment for smaller class sizes

  • Commissioned an airflow study to increase fresh air throughout the school

  • Air purifiers in each classroom and in common areas

  • Hepa filters installed in our HVAC units

  • Updated arrival and dismissal protocols to reduce exposure

  • Portable handwashing sink at the school’s entrance

  • Plexiglass panels between classrooms

  • Individual bins of materials and toys to prevent the spread of germs

  • Reconfiguration of the classrooms to promote social distancing

  • Updated handwashing and sanitization protocols

  • Daily Covid-19 Attestation for all students and staff

We are delighted to be back at school, and hope that with the protocols in place, and the active participation of our families,  we will be able to continue to provide the quality early childhood education experience that our children deserve.
